Before and After Evolve Transformation!

Finally I am ready to post some pics since participating in the Evolve training at my workplace, MINDBODY Online. It was an amazing three months…that now, is part of an lifestyle and lifelong commitment! This is just one of the things I like about where I work, but they stress a work life balance that I have only experienced at one other job in my life thus far. I am very thankful!

We were able to attend three different gyms, each with their own unique style and focus. The one where I, for myself, saw the most results was at REV SLO Fitness.  And it is here that I continue to evolve. When I first went there, I knew it was something special…as my favorite color of green is everywhere! But the commitment by the staff to help us see results and then get them…that is magical!  REV is a family…the staff, the clients….there is no judgement…only the work.

Then to meet the other people that are training…their transformations…it’s inspirational! There is one person, Stephanie Elizabeth who has been documenting her adventure. I am always inspired by people and their journeys and hers is quite amazing! She is also an amazing photographer!

Goals are important….my mama always reminds me to. ” have your goals out in front of you!” Well I’m here to share my ultimate goal of this: wanting to take boudoir pictures! Yup, going to have Stephanie take them too! Along with REV, I also have a group of friends on facebook that help  each other with monthly challenges….Jamee Sicat heads it up and it’s great checking in with the people there too! I also heed the words of my friend Emily Lo, who I still remember having a long day of different workouts with…we did running, biking, took a class, was on the treadmill and did weights….all at once! She said…”It can be done, our bodies can do this!”  Sue Conrad, another woman I did yoga on the beach ans spin with also inspired us to just do it! It’s what the Evolve Challenge has taught me too!  And if you cruise online, meet Jill Conyers….we were scrapbooking buds online, and now she has one of the most inspirational health and life blogs that is my goto daily read!

One of my favorite quotes from REV, that I hear all the time from all the trainers is, “Don’t think it through, just push through it!” When I’m taking a Spin and Gunz class, I secretly like being pushed to go farther and harder…reach my limit and then try more! Yes, now that I have said it, I will regret these words…but not really! The trainers are doing us service…but ultimately, it’s up to me! Half the issue is showing up…once I do, I know I am spending excellent quality time for myself…I at least deserve that!

Ok..so enough rambling…here are some befores and afters…and I still have a ways to go….but with my goal in sight, I know I can get there! The boudoir shoot will really be a medal for me…but maybe I’ll let Trevis see the pictures! 😉 Thanks to my trainers in life and to me!

I have pre diabetes…..

I suppose this day was coming. My family and friends may read this and be very worried, but it’s considered pre-diabetes since I have yet to take the glucose test that will totally confirm it. Found out today as my OBGYN’s office called me to let me know of the results. I love Creating Harmony …they delivered both girls and have always been my goto for everything! They helped me get the required blood test I needed with a quick turn around for this program I am starting at my workplace, MINDBODY. And it couldn’t have come at a better time.

After I found out this afternoon, I went for a very long, much needed walk. I realize this is a wake up call for me. Even with all the exercising I have been trying to be consistent with (but let’s face it Rani, not as consistent as I should be) and with all the changing eating habits (which tends to falter when I return home from work at 3pm, famished cause I didn’t eat properly during the day)….I knew this day may arrive. Especially as I experienced a hard time with clothes as of late and not feeling very attractive or healthy for the past few months. I am awake now and I am scared. I should have been scared along time ago….

I know…I know..its just pre-diabetes..not even 100% sure yet. And yes, it could be worse….but for me, right now…this is worse. This is years of cultural and gene history catching up to me…and if don’t stop it now….I see medications and a world of hurt in the future. The buck needs to stop here.

Many changes have occurred over the past few month….schedules, jobs, income…I’m sure this is part of my mid-life crisis. But I have learned to push through as that is what needs to be done. The job I currently have is now a place I enjoy to go to…and all it took was time. Time and talking it out with family and friends. They are wonderful to me and for that I am ever grateful. When people talk about MINDBODY they always say, “I’ve heard they are a great company to work for!”  They are 100% correct! I still will continue to pursue my first passion of massage therapy, but in order to do that, my health takes precedent.

And now I get to participate with 44 other people in a healthy challenge call Evolve Wellness! They are going to work with me for the next three months, giving my body, mind and soul a chance to be vigorous with lifestyle change. I still can’t believe it am part of this and again, I am grateful.

This new journey kicks off officially next week. And my goal is succeed for myself and my team. I’ll use my blog as a platform to record and discover. This is no longer only a challenge…it’s about life and living one that is full, healthy and happy. I am ready for this…I need this.

My mom told me awhile back, that she went to visit a wise man after a pilgrimage in India. She called me and said she talked to him about me. He said for me to do three things. And to keep a certain date in mind. I am doing those and see that date in my future and it’s all coming together. Without getting into the details of those three things, it’s mostly about positive ritual as a form of guidance for myself. And in true “Mom” form…there is a goal date for achievement!

So….I have placed it out here. I have typed the words from my head and heart. I have given voice to my body, mind and soul. It’s time Rani…it’s simply time.

What I am learning from Yoga…..

In my class at The Yoga Center of Morro Bay, last week, our instructor said a little “prayer (not religious)” during our Savasana. Savasana is a pose at the end of the practice where we are still and comfortable and taking all that we have done in, in a lying down position similar to simply sleeping face and body up, towards the ceiling. During our Savasana, she said a little prayer that talked about forgiveness, love and gratitude. And it didn’t hit me till I was in the car driving home, that I burst into tears…tears of joy, of sadness, of dispair, of happiness…and peace.  My emotions came over me in such a swell, that I almost had to pull over to simply let it all out.

After arriving home, getting some things done, I sat down and created simple subway piece that inspired me from that mornings session. I share it here with you now hoping it brings you something to your mind. Do share, pin and print as you wish! I hope to add this to my online shop where it will be printed on special paper, ready to ship and give. Enjoy and Namaste!

Grounded in Nature

Welcome to the July Mindful Mama Carnival: Mindfulness and Nature

This post was written for inclusion in the Mindful Mama Carnival hosted by Becoming Crunchy and TouchstoneZ. This month our participants have shared their experiences of mindfulness and the natural world. Please read to the end to find a list of links to the other carnival participants.

Welcome to my site and to the Mindful Mama Blog Carnival with this months topic: Mindfulness and Nature. We hope you enjoy the carnival, and plan to visit often! After the post be sure to  read on to other people who have shared their vision of this month’s topic!

Below is my “walking quest,” that led me to write, Grounded in Nature. What do you find when you are in nature. I for one believe that all the answers to the deep question we seek, are there…in nature.

Grounded In Nature

Darkness envelops.

Then all at once

Eyes see.

Open.

Light, bold and new

Crisp air that bites sweet.

Deep breath, exhale brisk breath.

I move,

I walk. Notice. Take in all around.

The extension of my limbs, roots in the ground.

My senses want. I touch. The earth is full of life.

Growth. Death. Cycles unfold.

Nature so profound.

Simple as can be.

Stop. Look. Listen. Smell, Touch. Taste the vapor in the air.

Though I step along, on top of and through,

I am one with all that is here.

The flowers, the leaves, the water,

the all.

I am grounded, deep.

Nature is here. Nature is me.

I am home.
